Former ZIMMERS HOLE Guitarist Dies
February 15, 2009Chris Stanley, a former member of ZIMMERS HOLE — the Vancouver-based project featuring guitarist Jed Simon and bassist Byron Stroud of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD alongside legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TESTAMENT, DEATH, DARK ANGEL) — has passed away. According to the band, "[Chris] played guitar for [ZIMMERS HOLE] during the 'Legion Of Flames' era, and more zany moments occurred when he was around than [we] care to try and remember. He has had a long battle with the many complications, and the day-to-day life battles with cystic fibrosis, pneumonia (many times),a double lung transplant and the myriad of issues that arise with that. He has battled back so many times, and it just crushes our hearts that he couldn't pull through this time."
"When You Were Shouting At The Devil...We Were In League With Satan", the latest video from ZIMMERS HOLE, can be viewed below. The song is the title track of the band's most recent album, which was released in March 2008 via Century Media Records. An e-card for the CD is available at this location.
Born in 1991, ZIMMERS HOLE has been Byron and Jed's significant other band when not busy with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD or FEAR FACTORY. In the beginning, it was always just a way of spending the weekend drinking far too much and writing absurd songs. As time went on, the group "matured" somewhat, although maturity is highly overrated as far as these guys go, but two remarkable albums ("Bound By Fire" and "Legion of Flames"),a series of successful tours and a string of absolutely unforgettable shows soon followed, putting the mighty ZIMMERS HOLE on the lips of many.
